Sabine’s tips for today are for mountain bikers who prefer downhilling: South Tyrol has plenty of exciting trails and parks for downhill fans and bike park enthusiasts – and Sabine can tell you which ones are the best!

South Tyrol’s best bike trails and parks
You, your friends and your mountain bikes ride the cable car up to the mountain station – and then you’re off! Perfect trails wind across open Alpine meadows and through dense forests, round steep curves and over purpose-built bridges, ever downwards into the valley below. It doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner to flow trails or have been a downhill fan from the outset – my selection of South Tyrol’s best bike parks offers something for everyone!

Pustertal valley and Brixen
The eternal hiker-biker dispute was finally put to rest in 2010 on the Kronplatz in the Pustertal valley, where South Tyrol’s first official freeride trail, the “Herrensteig”, was opened. The Kronplatz today offers technically demanding, perfectly constructed trails.
The Bikepark Plose, located on Brixen’s local mountain, the Plose, is an inspiration for all fans of downhilling: a number of Canadian professionals have created four flow trails here that are also a delight for beginners and families. And refreshments are available at the next hut... just around the next curve, of course!

The Dolomites and around Bozen
Further to the south I recommend a detour to the Gröden Trail Arena. Home to the ski slopes of the Sella Ronda in winter, the summer months see the appearance of varied flow trails and freeride routes – adrenalin rush included. Newcomers to downhilling are also sure to enjoy themselves on the “Family Trail” and the “Easy Jump Line”.
Nor should you miss the Carezza Bike Trail, located amidst the Rosengarten massif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, yet only a short distance from Bozen.

Vinschgau valley
Finally, a special treat for you all: the Three-Nation Enduro Trails near the Reschensee Lake comprise no fewer than 58 action-packed kilometres close to the border triangle between Austria, Switzerland and Italy. And, to cool off, you can dive into the water afterwards – my personal highlight!

If you prefer a little less action, I have put together some pleasant bike tours here. But, whichever tour you opt for, the private hosts of South Tyrol are waiting to welcome you!
