Do you think the ice cream season is over? We’ll prove you wrong.

We have the perfect autumn ice cream for you.

What does autumn taste like? Chestnuts, pumpkin, freshly harvested vegetables, and young wine? We love the variety of aromas in autumn! But we at südtirol privat simply aren’t ready to say goodbye to summer yet. If you feel the same, then we have the perfect recipe for you.

Ever heard of GewürzTRAMINer?

Useful information first: Gewürztraminer is a South Tyrolean wine. Did you know that it has been cultivated in Tramin since the 11th century? The grape variety with its yellowish-red, low-acid berries also takes its name from this tiny village in Bassa Atesina/Südtiroler Unterland. It soon spread to various parts of Europe and is now cultivated also with other names.

From wine to ice cream

If you love autumn but can’t let go of summer, we have a special dessert recommendation for you: the delicious Gewürztraminer ice cream! If you have an ice cream maker at home, this will soon be ready to eat. If not, we’ll give you a tasty alternative. The doses are for about 5 people.
You need:
• 40ml Gewürztraminer (or perhaps more if you want to have a glass in the meantime ;))
• 350ml milk
• 550ml whipped cream
• 1 vanilla pod
• 4 egg yolks
• 100g sugar

Preparation:
Start by mixing all the ingredients together, except for the Gewürztraminer - which will be added later - and heat the mixture.
Leave it to cool down a little until it’s tepid and put it in the ice cream maker.
After about 50 minutes, add the Gewürztraminer and leave everything to freeze for another 10 minutes.
Et voilà, your Gewürztraminer ice cream is ready!

I don’t have an ice cream maker. What now?

Südtirol privat has got you covered! There are so many other recipes that include the Gewürztraminer wine, not just ice cream. How about a Gewürztraminer mousse, for example? You can use any basic mousse recipe with gelatine, eggs, sugar, and whipped cream and add the Gewürztraminer as the main ingredient.
Put on your apron and let’s start cooking!
