You think the skiing fun is already over in March? Not in South Tyrol! Here you can enjoy the best ski and sun combination. Off to skiing in the sun!

Don’t put your skis away yet!

Long days, deep red sunsets, and pleasant temperatures: Skiing is wonderful and fulfilling far beyond winter. Now in March you can enjoy the slopes with guaranteed sunshine. Put on your sunglasses and off you go!

2 places for skiing in the sun

After asking around, we’ve listed the two best places for skiing in the sun in South Tyrol’s Val Pusteria/Pustertal. Where are you heading next?

Sun kissed on Mt Plan de Corones/Kronplatz
The best firn snow and mild temperatures now await you in the Kronplatz ski area. Whizz down the slopes and savour the moments in the spring sunshine before treating yourself to a snack on the sun terrace of a hut at lunchtime. Yes, that’s right, with a bit of luck the weather will allow you to relax and eat outside in the sunshine. Isn’t that great?

Leisurely skiing in the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area
Even the journey to the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area is a real wow experience in spring. While the first blossom buds appear on the apple trees in Natz-Schabs, the slopes high up on the mountains are still covered in snow. Enjoy skiing with the chirping of the birds and the bright sunshine.

The well-deserved break in between

What makes skiing in the sun so special compared to skiing in winter? You can enjoy lunch (or an Aperol Spritz in between) on the terrace of a rustic hut. The temperatures are pleasant and the sun is warming your face until your cheeks turn red. Here is our tip: Don’t forget your sun cream, because it's easy to underestimate the power of the sun on the mountains in spring!

The ultimate question: How much longer can I ski?

Most ski resorts are open until Easter, but some are only open until the beginning of April, depending on the snow conditions. It’s best to find out in advance from your private landlord, as they’re always up to date. What are you waiting for? Enjoy the last descents of the season!
